Merry Christmas and Week 16 NFL Picks

It's Christmas and no one should be looking at still.grimey, but alas, the picks must go on. I went on a tear last week going 9-4, helping to bring my season's total to almost .500, however there are still some kinks that need to be worked out. One theory is that I'm picking too many away teams. If you notice, this week's picks are splattered with a lot of capital letters, meaning we're taking the home teams.

As per usual, home teams in caps and spreads provided by covers.com.

Number 7: Cam'ron--Crime Pays

The seventh best album of 2009 is
Cam'ron- Crime Pays

Even though Cameron Giles a/k/a Killa Cam b/k/a Cam'ron broke my heart when he declared that Dipset is dead and that I(and all their other fans) need to get over it, I had to put his most recent album in my list for years best.

Christmas Come Early.

I don't think I've been this excited about a Mariners season since the 90s when we were boasting rosters with the likes of The Big Unit, A-Rod, Junior, Edgar Martinez(when he could still walk), Dan Wilson, Jay Buhner, Joey Cora, etc.. And I don't know that I've been this excited about baseball in December since, well, ever.
"But Geezy," you might find yourself asking, "where is this new found excitement stemming from?"
Quite simple my little reader: From the signing of the man pictured below...
CLIFF LEE!

Number 8: M.O.P. -- Foundation

The eighth best album of the year is:
M.O.P. - Foundation

As urban legend has it, the Brownsville duo of Lil Fame and Billy Danze, formally known as M.O.P. (Mash Out Posse for those of you who are new to this hip-hop thing), are the creators of what is rumored to be the most stolen album of all time; 1996's Firing Squad. So, it should be no surprise that thirteen years later Foundation only moved 2,100 copies its first week. Nine years later, the stick up kids don't even have to go down to the the record store to pull a jack move, they can just roll out of bed and hit the internets instead. I'd be lying to you if I told you Ihadn't done the same thing.

Number 9: MSTRKRFT--Fist of God

The ninth best album of two thousand nine is:
MSTRKRFT- Fist of God
It’s probably no coincidence that how I feel about MSTRKRFT’s Fist of God is the same way I feel about taking a thizz pill, and I rarely, if ever, elect to do either. Not because I don’t like their music or am some kind of square. Quite the contrary, I really do like MSTRKRFT, I just am more of a hip-hop head with a major affinity for Neil Young, so you can see why grimey electronic music might not make it into my daily rotation. And with regards to rolling, I just don’t really have the luxury of being able to take two days to recover from one night of partying. However, when I do decide to do either one of these, I know a few things for certain:

JOTW

This week we go contemporary with a track from the recent self titled album from BlakRoc, which is a Black Keys collabo with a group of emcees and a couple of singers. It is fantastic, I would recommend it to anybody that likes hip-hop, rock, or blues. I like all of the songs, but my favorites are probably the Raekwon cut Stay off the Fucking Flowers, and this weeks Jam of the Week...

Fresh line: "But papa got a brand new weed bag and some blue suede shoes."

The Elephant in the Room: Eldrick Woods

Recently, a fellow still.grimey blogger mentioned that Tiger Woods "is only human, and that he feels remorse." Hmm, how sad. It turns out humans are prone to sleeping with double digit amounts of women (Yes we're getting close to the teens now people) while married. Save me the "human" crap, Tiger is about as far from human as any professional athlete I know. The only time the guy even cared about us caring about him, was when he was flashing his white teeth in front of the Gilette cameras, or doing a one-on-one interview with Jim Nancy Pants Nantz after birdie-ing the 18th to win The Masters.

Nine for Nine.

2009 was a historic year for music, and your friends at still.grimey would like to take a second to acknowledge the top nine albums of two thousand nine. However, instead of just standing on my soap box, which I'm sure I will end up doing anyway, I wanted to see if any of our readers had some sort of input as to what albums I should be considering.

Sorry Kanye, even you couldn't argue Beyonce onto this list.

Hit the jump to see the list of albums under current consideration for the list. Please feel free to leave a comment if you think there is anything that should (or shouldn't) be on there. I'd even go as far as to say we encourage it.

"Til the Casket Drops, the Greatness is Reborn."

I know, I know, the album dropped Tuesday, and I'm writing this Sunday night. Cut me some slack, I just wrapped up finals and a rather devastating weekend. So without further ado, still.grimey presents the Til the Casket Drops review:

JOTW Dec 10

In this world there are few things better than R Kelly as a person. One of them is Kells combined with over-the-top Japanese stereotypes. Who the fuck wouldn't want to go to Tokyo with the man and tear the club up? I would just hope to god the chicken he was pissing on in the VIP room was over 18 at the time. Keep an eye out for the Birdman cameo.
Notable quotable: Body movin' like she's dancin' in the circus, back forth up down when she jerk it, put the thoia thoing on and watch her murder it.

Condoms and NFL Week 14 Picks

Why do I feel so embarrassed when I buy condoms? I should feel proud, elated, and frankly focused more on my impending task - getting down. This last situation may be the crux of the problem. There's a common misconception that anyone buying condoms is immediately rushing home to use the entire pack. Whether it's a 3-pack, 12-pack, or a Costco-pack we just assume anyone carrying condoms is going to get laid within minutes, numerous times, with numerous people, and numerous fetishes. Not so. For instance, I'm an avid arts-N-crafts hobbyist and I use the latex from condoms to stretch around toy mobiles to create a large model planet Earth inhabited by Bubble-Boys and Bubble-Girls.

Jam of the Week (JOTW)

Since MTV Jams has been kind enough to faithfully provide me with their JOTW (whether it is good or not), I will do the same for our loyal readers. Feel free to post your own, or comment on my choice.
This week I have been trying to save some skrilla for the hard drinking that will come after finals, and I was reminded of RZA's (arguably) best song Grits. A song about an impoverished childhood filled with the tasty, but monotonous, food staple. I was lucky enough to always have a variety of foods to eat in my youth, but I made some grits yesterday and the meal only costed me about 50 cents. Thanks for the inspiration Bobby Dig... Notable Line "An old killa bee once hummed me a tune. Stay up at night, don't sleep on ya moon"

Starbucks and NFL Week 13 Picks

I went to Starbucks this morning before class. I never go to Starbucks unless my girlfriend bribes me with a free coffee, or I have to meet some random person I met on Craigslist. I'm not talking about random ass hookers like the kind Tiger meets on Craigslist. I'm talking about shit like, "I dropped my phone in the toilet and let's just say I wasn't standing up when it happened and now I need to go to craigslist.com for a fucking replacement."

Essentially here are my only three reasons for ever going into a Starbucks:
1. I have a midterm/project/exam in class and I need to grab a coffee or tea (yeah I drink tea sometimes, deal with it).
2. My girlfriend tells me she'll buy me a coffee if I go inside with her.
3. I have to meet some random person that I met on Craigslist.

"I call my brother son cause he shine like one."

They were grimey then : Bag(left) and Bard(strapped) circa 2006

Much like Mef and his Clan brethren, the good people of still.grimey roll deep with their homies from way back. In the last week, I have been fortunate enough to enlist the (much needed) services of two of my best boys from back home. You know them as JAM and (Killah) Cameron, I know them as Bag and Bard.Read more »
