Nine for Nine.

2009 was a historic year for music, and your friends at still.grimey would like to take a second to acknowledge the top nine albums of two thousand nine. However, instead of just standing on my soap box, which I'm sure I will end up doing anyway, I wanted to see if any of our readers had some sort of input as to what albums I should be considering.

Sorry Kanye, even you couldn't argue Beyonce onto this list.

Hit the jump to see the list of albums under current consideration for the list. Please feel free to leave a comment if you think there is anything that should (or shouldn't) be on there. I'd even go as far as to say we encourage it.

Albums under consideration for "9 for 9":
- Fashawn "Boy meets world"
- Cam'ron "Crime Pays"
- Raekwon "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...pt II"
- Clipse "Til the Casket Drops"
- The-Dream "Love vs. Music"
- MSTRKRFT "Fist of God"
- Redman & Method Man "Blackout 2"
- Dinosaur Jr. "Farm"
- Dizzee Rascal "Tounge n' Cheek"
- Animal Collective "Merriweather Post Pavillion"
- Van Morrison "Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl"
- Copone-N-Noreaga "Channel 10"
- Gorilla Zoe "Don't Feed da Animals"
- Slim Thug "Boss of all Bosses"
- Royksopp "Junior"
- Jay-Z "The Blueprint III"

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Chali 2na: Fish Outta Water

Although he had about 1/15 of the marketing and advertising campaign of any other album you mentioned, Chali 2na proves we was one of, if not THE, most integral MC in Jurassic 5 with his latest solo album. The unexpected, high quality production value, along with your "friendly neighborhood baritone's" prose and vocal chords, that would soothe any man, woman, or child into subduction, are what make this album, album of the year!

Out of your selection I would have to say The-Dream, Raekwon and Fashawn put out three of my favorite albums of the year. OBCL2 was great but there wasn't a Nas track which would have made the album more complete,a real disappointment but still good, I could listen to Love vs Money all day. The-Dream just knows how to write a good RnB song and has restored my faith in the the genre. Fashawn is crazy good lyrically and working with Exile who produced Above the Clouds, one of my favorite albums of 2008, was genius. I dunno about Killa Cam's CD though, there were a couple good tracks on it but overall not a very good album. You could say its Cam doing Cam, but Cam is pretty mediocre. Overall a so-so year for albums but there was a wide variety of mixtapes that filled the void
