AOTW: RAGU

This Ragu is not as good as R.A.G.U.

Most hip-hop fans would agree that the Wu-Tang are one of the living legends of hip-hop, especially for those growing up in the 90's. For a lot of people Method Man would be the most recognizable member of the Wu due to his work with Redman as well as his extensive “acting” career. Show any non hip hop fan a picture of any other member of the Wu and then show them a picture of Method Man and I'm gonna venture a guess that most of them will be able to identify Method Man more times than any other Wu member.

No hate on Method Man and his rapping abilities, cause they are pretty good, but I feel that the general public often overlook Ghostface and Raekwon, who have been the most consistent members of the Wu-Tang MC wise, because RZA is always killing it with the beats. They've got a pretty good system down releasing a good album one year, but then releasing some doo-doo for a couple of years, but then soon after that they're putting another quality album. It's a cycle that I can live with because for every Immobilarity we get an Only Built 4 Cuban Linx or for every Ghostdini: Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City we get something like The Big Doe Rehab. It's something that I have no problem dealing with for the most part, except for when it comes to Wu-Massacre. One of the most hyped projects of the Wu-Tang collective that could have been amazing if not an instant classic, but the album that turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments ever. The whole album just felt mailed in and lacked any kind of effort. It was like when you plan for a big road trip and everybody was expecting somebody else to bring the snacks, road sodas, etc. It just doesn't ever turn out well.

And even though I just hated on them super hard, I still think that these guys are two of the best in the game due to their consistency over the years. Ghost and Rae's as individual artists are amazing upon themselves, but throw them together and you got an unstoppable duo. They're like Lewis and Clark or Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd or Malcom and Eddie or Bert and Ernie or Wayne and Garth; meaning they have crazy good chemistry. It's like the homies in a crew that you knew they were way better homies with each other than with anyone else in your crew. And they had all sorts of inside jokes and used all sorts of ridiculous slang that no one but them could understand? Cause that's totally these two. They drop slang that I'm sure only Graham or Slade would understand, and they have like 15 nicknames. Each. I mean they each let each other have a whole song to themselves on their respective debut albums, which were pretty much Raekwon and Ghostfaces version of Love Below/Speaker Boxxx before Love Below/ Speaker Boxxx even existed. So if that isn't being a good BFF I don't know what is.In the next year both of these guys will be releasing multiple CD's as solo artists as well as collabs with other artists and you can most definitely expect guest appearances on each others releases multiple times.

Also a lot of these tracks aren't just Rae and Ghost, but for the most part they outshine everybody else, cause really who cares what Cappadonna's even rapping about?
