Bawse JAMs

While Rozay maintains he's the biggest boss that we've seen thus far, I'd say he might just barely shave the bottom half of my top 50 all-time favorite bosses.  The criteria for said list being completely arbitrary and erratic, but one thing is certain: Martin Luther King Jr.  would definitely make the top five.

I want to wish the man peace in his rest, and to endorse the perennial MLK Day classic "Happy Birthday" by Stevie Wonder, from Hotter Than July.  In my opinion it's apt for all birthday celebrations, but its lyrical content ultimately qualifies it as a tribute cut.

That being said, in no way do I wish to detract from Ross's status as a bona-fide boss.  He's established a formula for catchy cuts and lyrical theatrics that make it worthwhile to perceive him less as a reincarnation of his namesake Freeway Ricky Ross, and more as a character actor who has the gangsta-rap role down pat.  The Barry White sample on "Even Deeper" from the Ashes to Ashes mix-tape is nothing less than exquisite.  I'd love to see a video for this song shot in some mirror filled, white-leather laden club in South Beach.  I'm thinking they edit in some early-eighties B. White performance footage, and fill the rest with Rawse simmering in the background surrounded by buxom briskets and several chilled bottles of Cris.
