Forget About Dre.

With all due respect to Marshal Mathers, mother fuckers don't act like, they have forgot about Dre. And for those of you already haven't, you should scrap the idea that if Detox is going to come out (which it shouldn't), that it's going to be good. It won't; or won't be nearly as good as it needs to be.
You can't keep building up an album for eleven years (yes, eleven years and one day to be exact; 2001 came out November 16, 1999) and expect it to even begin to touch expectations it's set for itself. That is, unless Detox truly proves to be methodone in audio form. I'm not saying it couldn't be, I'm just saying that it was January of 2005 when the good Doctor said "Look out for Detox" on The Game's hit "Higher". The odds appear to be against this one.

Dr. Dre: Not the young man he once was.

Now, I'm not saying Dr. Dre couldn't put out a game changing record, I mean dude has already done it twice in his career with 1991's The Chronic and the previously mentioned 2001. I also don't want anybody to get the misconception that I'm rooting against him, lord knows I want my mind blown as bad as the next hip hop head does. But when you see a 45 year old Andre Young on your television trying to convince you to buy an HP computer (don't, they are pieces of shit) or drink Dr. Pepper (does somebody who is selling you carbonated prune juice really have what it takes to put hot fire on your iPod?), you just can't help but doubt the man's ability to come through and make another classic.

To put it in a positive light, think of Dre as Jordan:
They were both arguably the best person at what they did, when they did it. For Michael, it was obviously selling sneakers (jokes!), and for Dre, it was being a rapper/producer.
They both posted two masterpieces in the '90's. Dre's being his solo albums, and MJ's two three-peats were incredible.
And sure Jordan's comeback with the Wizards wasn't a complete disaster, but it just wasn't the same. And if Dre comes back with Detox, neither will it.
