AOTW: T-Pain

Tallahassee Pain aka Teddy Bender aka Nappy Boy aka T-Pain, born Faheem Najim is an artist that everybody loves to hate on. T-Pain's has released three studio albums that have all enjoyed success, all of this while his music is the main target for material for the current state of the music scene, which can be collectively summed up as watered down shitty ass music.

When T-Pain first hit the scene I was part of that camp and I hoped that T-Pain would be just another fad, but about a year ago I was sitting in the car on the way home from a party when T-Pain's “Buy you a Drank” started bumping on the radio, and since my cool guy music snob switch was off due to my drunk state, it really didn't sound half bad and from then on my hatred subsided and now I'm on the T-Pain bandwagon because really what do you expect from the guy?

He's writing music to get down to; He's not trying to change the world by pushing political agendas (looking at you Nas) or crying about how much his life sucks (Cage, Slug, Rhymesayers Entertainment etc.) or even anything with a substantial message. It's just plain ol fashioned “Hard n B” (a term T-Pain has probably trademarked by now) made purely for entertainment fitting any situation that fun is involved with. From getting down with your lady friend or when you're cutting up a rug. So the next time you listen to T-Pain just remember music doesn't always have to be about messages and content because there is always that part where it's supposed to entertain you.

Hate him or love him you gotta respect his ability to write hooks and make strippers love him. So take the jump and take a listen to some choice T-Pain cuts that you may not have heard of yet.

Track Listing

1) Snap You're Fingas – T-Pain ft Lil Wayne

This song is great RnB and has some pretty classic/funny lines that really shows why T-Wayne works so well.

2) Cutty Buddy – Mike Jones ft T-Pain and Twista

T-Pain is just a feature on this one because he's only doing the hook, but this is just another prime example of why T-Pain is the master of writing hooks.

3) Rap Song – T-Pain ft Rick Rozay

T-Pain shows you why RnB isn't the only option when getting down with the ladies and or gents, his most recent single.

4) Download (feat. Lil Kim, T-Pain & Charlie Wilson)

lips one of my favorite beats, Download by Zapp and Rogers. However what makes this track even better is that they got Charlie Wilson of Zapp and Rogers to re-record the vocals. There's a remix with Soulja Boy out there if you want to get a laugh or two.

5) Chris Brown In Concert – T-Pain

This time T-pain does a decidedly less PG-13 version of Chris Brown's – Yo. Takes a while to get into and it's pretty short, but it's pretty damn funny and tongue and cheek.

6) He Raps, He Sings, It's T-Wayne – T-Pain ft Lil Wayne

Little known fact about T-Pain is that he used to be in a group called Nappy Headz back in the day. He's already made his case for his passable rapping skills on the song Karaoke on his latest album Three Ringz, and he shows them off again here.

You can grab these songs in a convenient zip file provided here or here.
