AOTW:Chip Tha Ripper

You smell me?

By now I'm sure you guys have all heard of Cleveland product KiD CuDi, but another young Cleveland representer that should be on your radar is Chip Tha Ripper. Both are from the same city and they both cover similar subjects, but don't go lumping them together cause that would be a huge mistake. Whereas CuDi tries to be eclectic with his flow and can be at times kinda emo, Chip is what you would consider a more traditional rapper using a more standard flow and rhymes schemes and just oozes confidence and swagger ( I hate using that word in this context, but I felt it was fitting). He also seems to do this thing where he uses words that rhyme rather than changing the pronunciation of words to make them rhyme better. I dunno if that's something you guys are into, but I sure am. Whining and crying about his problems is also something that isn't in Chip's wheelhouse so you don't need to worry about feeling sad after you listen to his musc because in Chip's world he's the man and everybody respects and loves him; especially them females.

Being a standard rapper shouldn't stop you from giving Chip a chance though, cause he's actually pretty good at what he does. He's not gonna blow you away with some thought provoking lyrics and metaphors, but he's also not sticking strictly to rapping about the rap trifecta of girls, money, and getting drunk/blunted. He's highly adept at mixing it all up, like I said it's nothing ground breaking or new, but definitely some clever lines here and there. His varied flows also keeps things interesting because he has a varied flow that can go from laid back (T.G.I.F) to rapid fire delivery (Run My City) from track to track which keeps things interesting.

He has been on his game since 2002 and has just released a new mixtape to add to his discog that will not disappoint any Chip fans. And if you haven't heard of Chip or want to see what he's all about check out this mix and if you like it go download his new one cause it's probably his best one overall. No hate on KiD CuDi, I'm a huge fan (unlike others on this blog), I'm just giving you a heads up on what to expect and what not to expect. Cause both guys are on their grind doing their own things which is always good for music in general.
