AOTW: Get Busy Committee

A couple weeks back ya boy Greezy posted a dope song from King Fantastic titled 'Why? Where? What?'. After listening to that track I was optimistic about how his mixtape wold turn out, but after listening to the rest of the mixtape I was pretty disappointed expecting more of the same. aftersome time I finally realized that 'Why? Where? What?' reminded me of Get Busy Committee's 2009 album Uzi Does it. Which is good news cause Uzi Does it was kind of where I was expecting King Fantastic to go.

GBC is the side project of Apathy, Ryu of Styles of Beyond who has ties to Mike Shinoda (please don't judge), and Scoop DeVille who has produced for both underground and mainstream artists. The album just seems to be a way for the artists to explore other parts of the rap game while mixing different aspects of 90's gangsta rap, electronic and R&B. What becomes clear after listening to tracks off of Uzi Does It is thato GBC is a side project that is departure from an artist like Apathy who often works with Vinnie Paz and the Demigodz. The album is much less serious, especially for Ryu who is no stranger to the genre of gangsta rap, and the subjects are far removed from the usual themes that most underground rappers are typically associated with. However the rapper's underground backgrounds can sometimes show through and their rhymes can often be tongue-in-cheek; taking jabs and aping the same exact niche that the album initially sounds like it's trying to fill. On Uzi Does It Scoop's production is built heavily around sample based hooks from the opening track and doesn't stop till the end. All three of them are capable of spitting solid bars and they're styles match up great with Scoop's production. Overall the album is highly enjoyable and if you liked King Fantastic's 'Why? Where? What?', I highly recommended checking these guys out.
