An Insight to my Trill Life: a Live.Love.A$AP Review

LaGreezy be that lanky motherfucker, Vashon's what I'm repping.

I really should be studying for the midterm I have in my business capstone class tomorrow morning. Especially when you consider the utter lack of productivity I experienced over the weekend. But when you're (still) an undergrad, it's damn near impossible to resist the allure of Halloween weekend. A celebration consisting of half-naked (or three-quarters-naked) womens running around the streets, behaving as scandalously as they are dressed. Shit is cracking.
However, now that today is actually Halloween, a new kind of distraction has presented itself; this time in the form of a free zip file.Yes, A$AP Rocky, the three million dollar man, aka "That Pretty Motherfucker", dropped his debut mixtape/album/whatever-the-fuck-they-call-musical-releases -these-days: Live.Love.A$AP.

If you're not familiar with Rocky's music, he hails from Harlem. His music sounds as such, but Harlem by way of the dirty-dirty. The dichotomy of his influences is represented democratically in his music. His voice is often slowed-and-throwed over the musical accompaniments of  (most notably)Clams Casino, but just as often left to its natural sound. And if you know me, you know I love music that sounds as though it's been filtered through a 'zurped-out styrofoam cup, and the colorful slang of Harlem (read: Diplomats). The combination of the two is certainly going to cement Live.Love.A$AP in my iTunes for the foreseeable future.

While I don't have time to sit here and give you a track by track review, I will say this: If you don't download Live.Love.A$AP, you are doing yourself an immense disservice. And yes, I realize this is an overtly lazy review, but I would rather get something up in the first 12 hours the tape was out and have you read about it, instead of posting this later in the week and having you not give two shits. Though I'd imagine you'll do some combination of the two (I know I would if I had to read this half-assed post).

Perhaps I'm biased, I have a tendency to maintain an extreme allegiance to artists that I've been riding with since they've been relevant, even though they might not deserve it currently (Read: Young Jeezy). But I'm convinced that A$AP Rocky is the real deal. Dude has yet to put out anything, at least since I started slapping "Purple Swag"(video below), that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. Whether or not you believe that, you and I know that your iTunes is feeling a litttle stagnant these days, I mean what was the last thing you looked forward to? If I had to guess, it would be The Weeknd's Thursday . And that came out, when? Like August 20th 18th? Not to mention, if you were fucking with the Thursday tape, which was fire, to be sure, you will absolutely love this.

Aight, I gotta get back to the scholastic hustle, but at least now you can cop this tape and I can get one of the first cracks at the album. Chuch.

Asap Rocky will prevail! This tape is fresh as fuck. According to all his interviews he is a humble, talented and open minded dude. And he has star appeal. Charismatic. If this does not work, it is definitley not his fault. And ODD Future is to gimmicky, feels too forced to be successfull. The ASAP crew on the other hand comes across naturally and honest. And face it: The Beats are new yet inspired by many influences and the over all vibe is that old school NYCV/Big Apple/How to make it in America/ Blondie/Fab 5 Freddy/ Keith Haring Downtown Flair, the Big Apple/ Center Of the World flavor which could bring NYC back on the forefront of Hip Hop.
