R-E-U-P

The best night of my life, or at least one of the illest of all time, was earlier this fall in southeast Portland. A few of my boys and I copped tickets to the Rotture's three year anniversary party, headlined by who? Only the greatest rap duo of all time(no disrespect EPMD or MOP): The Clipse; arguably my favorite hip hop group/duo/artist, whatever, this was a dream come true. Pusha T and Malice came on stage and absolutely killed it from start to finish. Rightfully so, anything else but the best hip hop show imaginable would have been a disappointment coming from Gene(Malice) and Terrence(Pusha) Thorton. Anyway, I apologize for the anecdote, but what I'm tryna say is those boys from where there ain't shit to do but cook usually bring it on all fronts when their music, much less an album is concerned. With Lord Willin', they had the entire country "Grindin'" and wanting more out of the VA. And on the album cover? The Brothers Thorton have Jesus Christ riding in the back! That is so real! Get familiar (no clinton sparks):

Their sophomore album, Hell Hath No Fury, should have replaced the "Parental Advisory" warning with a "Synths and Lyrics May Cause Face to Melt" (and make the pyrex bubble). And the album cover was equally dope:

Their third album, Til the Casket Drops, is scheduled to drop December 8th, and is pictured at the top of the post. I am going to be so disappointed if this is the final album art. It looks like a Kanye mixtape cover from hell. So, if the connection between quality of artwork and quality of music holds true, we the people of hip hop are, for a lack of a better word, fucked. And to be quite honest, the leaked tracks I've peeped thus far are not up to the standard we have come to expect from Malice and Pusha. Hopefully they get it figured out by next month. Either way, December 8, 2009 is judgment day and your boy will be praying for fire, even when it's looking like rain (no Fat Joe).
